"Mary's Lake -O'Hara", plein air oil landscape painting, Sharon Lynn Williams

"Mary's Lake -O'Hara", plein air oil painting, 10 x 8"
SOLD

I knew it would be a challenge to portray rocks under water alla prima (wet on wet), but thought I would tackle it anyway. Usually this type of work would be done with glazing, but there you go. The photo is not as saturated in colour as the actual painting -I don't know why Photoshop does that. All in all, I am pleased with the way it turned out.

Enjoy!

  2. Hi Sharon,

I finally got to look at your summer blog site tonight. What beautiful work you have been doing! I have been studying the fish in my pond, hoping to paint them, and am impressed with your underwater rocks. Do you think it will be harder or easier in watercolour? Am hoping to wet the brushes TOMORROW.

  3. My goodness, how fabulous these landscapes are!
Love your treatment of your greyed down background and the beautiful blue-violet-turquoise reflections on the water.

  5. Thank you Linda and Tracy, such kind comments! Sally, I think it would be definitely easier in watercolour!
