Alberta Flood Rose Project and other NEWS!!

"Alberta Rose", 4x4" encaustic on panel (see below for more details)

Hello friends: I must apologize for not posting more regularly this summer, but it has been a very full one and continues to be so until the end of September! Since I last posted in the middle of July (!), I have been to the Seattle area where I attended a fabulous encaustic retreat called EncaustiCamp and taught a 3 day pen and ink and watercolour workshop in Kimberley, BC. Both events were absolutely over the moon, and I am full in my heart from the camaraderie of fellow artists, many of whom I have never met before, yet they let me into their lives and hearts. That is one thing that I have found to be (mostly) true of artists: they are truly giving folks that love to share their love of all things art with you.

The image posted above is my donation to the Alberta Flood Rose Project.  Almost 400 artists have each produced a 4x4" painting or drawing on panel, to be assembled into large 'quilt' paintings that will be auctioned off on Aug 28, 2013 with all net proceeds going to flood relief. Check out the site if you want to find out more! Such an honor to participate in this worthwhile project, but this format is way too small, even for me!!

I just came across an article on the web called "Creative People Say No!". I highly recommend that you take a moment to read it -don't say no to that, but you might want to consider it if you want to get your work done!!! (I should take that advice, I know : P)

I will post some of my experience at the EncaustiCamp and at Kimberley in future posts, but for now I am heading off for some much needed R&R (and maybe a bit of painting) in Montana.

Enjoy!
