This is one of two studio oil paintings that I did for this years competition for the Calgary Stampede Western Art Auction. It is based on a plein air painting that I posted on June 21st, 2010. You can see that I have changed the colour scheme for this painting. The sky was all painted with a palette knife, while the reflected light on the mountain is a very thin glaze. Makes for interesting surface variations.
