This is the demo painting that I did during last weekends' 'Sunset Soiree' at the Leighton Art Centre. I took the photo that I worked from the night before. The rivers here are flooding their banks in low lying areas due to all the rain we have been having (and some of which made it into my basement -but that's another story). The sun was just going down and it appeared beneath the dark cloud layer and made a wonderful scene. I find I can work easier from photos when the feeling of the scene is fresh in my memory.
