August news from my Studio

August is going to be a BUSY month!

Hi Sharon, I hope this finds you happy and healthy and enjoying this beautiful summer! We have just come back from almost 3 weeks at the cottage in central Ontario. I cannot begin to tell you how deeply soul satisfying it is to lay on the dock and when it gets just too hot, to lazily roll over into the most clear, cool, and refreshing water on the planet (ok, I can't prove it, but take my word for it!). We share a family cottage with Dave's siblings and cousins, just outside Minden in the Algonquin Highlands, on an island in the middle of Big Hawk Lake. As we are on an island, it is all about boats: sailboats, tin boats, waterski boats, paddle boats, kayaks and canoes. So many modes of transportation! And of course there are the water toys! We were lucky to have our middle two sons and my 7 year old grandson join us this year. It was so memorable to have special times with each of them. Just so you can feel the fun, here is a pic of my grandson with the BIGGEST fish ever caught by us -and this was his first ever cast off from our dock! It made for quite a feast.

But now we are back home and there is work to be done! August is bringing some very exciting events for me that I want to share with you!

Come See My Work!

My biggest and best news is that I am now represented at Arta Gallery in the Distillery District in Toronto! I only sent them 2 paintings to begin with, but one sold in the first week, so they want more! Find out more about the gallery HERE. I am hoping for a long and successful partnership with them!

On August 20 I will be at the Art Market in beautiful Rosebud, Alberta. This will be my 3rd time at the market. I will have my big white tent filled with artwork and a new selection of beautiful cards, created just for you, with all my favorite paintings. I hope you will enjoy the beautiful drive out to Rosebud and come and say hi. I would love to chat art with you!

Next up is a new venture that I am really excited about. The Mastrius community is holding an online art show, "100 Days Of Summer", from Aug 26-31, and I am honored to have been selected as one of the ten master artists participating. The show contains artwork from master artists all the way to aspiring artists who are just beginning their art journey with Mastrius. All of the work will be 10x10", which will make for an affordable sale and allow you to chose a collection if you like. I will give you the link to the show in the next newsletter, but in the meantime, you might want to mark it on your calendar!

New Teaching Opportunities!

We will share the importance of doing your homework before taking a commissions so you can be worry free and successful! Get answers to the questions you ponder, like: · What are the pros and cons of doing art commissions? · What should I ask collectors before accepting a commision? · Do I need to get to know a collector in order to do a commission well? · Do I need a contract? What should the contract include? · And bring YOUR questions! 🌟. This is probably a good place to remind you that I LOVE painting scenes that are meaningful for you! 3. A little while ago, I shared that I’ll be mentoring a SMALL GROUP of up to just 8 artists ONLINE every month in partnership with @mastrius.official. This will be my third group of emerging artists with Mastrius.  👉 That group is STARTING on August 22. We will meet on the SECOND TUESDAY of each month from 1-3pm MDT, and there are a couple spots left! 👈 Feel like your art could use a boost? Maybe you could use some good artist community? Come JOIN US!

4. Lastly (for now), on September 10-11 I will be teaching an acrylic workshop in Edmonton for the Art Society Of Strathcona County (ASSC). This will be my first LIVE WORKSHOP since the pandemic and I am so looking forward to teaching in person once again! For more information, and to register, please go HERE.
