August has been a very busy month around here, what with my garden producing like crazy, getting ready for shows, making submissions, and launching a new Mastrius group. And all in over 30 degree heat to boot. Makes me long for the cold days of winter -now that is a crazy thought! I had a very successful show at the Rosebud Art Market on the weekend, so thank you to all who came out. Luckily my tent was positioned underneath a huge poplar tree, so I didn't melt. I look forward to returning to Rosebud to paint Sept 15-18; it is such a beautiful area and there are paintings around every corner. Last Wednesday I was fortunate enough to be able to paint up at Sunshine Meadows with a couple of art friends. Talk about breathtaking scenery without the breathtaking hike up the mountain! Your ticket lets you ride up the gondola and then take the Standish chair lift to the very top. The meadows are still full of wildflowers, although they have clearly passed their peak. Here are shots of what I was looking at and my subsequent 12X12" oil paintings. Enjoy! |
